Holly Tarr, real estate attorney
Licensed in Illinois and Michigan
When do I need to hire an attorney?
As soon as you sign a contract for either the purchase or sale of your home.
What does a real estate attorney do for me?
Real estate attorneys review contracts, draft changes, negotiate on your behalf, and handle many other critical details of your real estate transaction on your behalf. Please see the SERVICES page, above, for further information.
How do I choose a real estate attorney?
Ask friends and family if they know of an attorney who concentrates in real estate law, and whether they were pleased with their representation if they'd ever used this attorney. Your mortgage broker or realtor may have suggestions as well. Make sure that you check to see whether the real estate attorney you're considering is experienced in real estate law. You may want to interview the attorney you're considering, and ask him or her how many closings they handle each month, what specifically they will do on your behalf, and other questions of concern to you.
What is your experience?
Holly Tarr has over 20 years of experience in real estate law, having concentrated in real estate for the majority of her time in practice.
How many real estate transactions like mine have you handled?
Holly has handled thousands of client transactions, the majority of which are purchases or sales of residential homes, town homes, condominiums, commercial, and investment properties. Short sales are another of her concentrations, as she is experienced with technical aspects of these sales that make them different from other real estate sales.
How will you bill me? Do you charge up front or at the time of closing?
Holly bills at the time of closing, with payment due at closing.
How much does it cost?
There is usually a standard fee for a sale or purchase. Please contact us for details.
Are there ever extra fees?
Sometimes, but this is rare. Holly will always let you know ahead of time whether there will be additional fees and the specific reason for those fees.
